Lingua Franca Consulting
Guiding language acquisition education
Hello! I’m Caitlin. I fell in love with the idea of a lingua franca while working on my TESOL certification - the idea of finding common ground through non-native language and being able to communicate despite linguistic odds feels so central to the work of language acquisition.
Shaping Lingua Franca came from spending a decade in charter and independent schools - trying to find that common tongue. Year after year, I worked with educators who desperately wanted to do right by their students but didn’t know how. And frankly, having been that teacher - without support and without mentorship - I couldn’t fault them. Being everything for all students is not a sustainable model.
That’s why I made it my mission to use my experience to mentor TESOL/ESL teachers and new ESL programs - because when teachers are supported, students flourish. I love this field and the work that we get to do - if you’re looking for guidance in this field or are another expert looking to talk shop, let’s chat!
Lingua Franca operates on three major tenets:
We meet educators where they are - no one is meant to be an expert in everything.
Our solutions are research-backed, equitable, and practical.
Cultivating inclusive learning environments for EL students and families comes first.
